Privacy Policy
Your attention is yours. So is your data. Last updated: August 2, 2026.
The short version
- ✓ Your scroll counts are calculated and stored on your device.
- ✓ The Accessibility Service is used only to detect scroll events, never to read your screen.
- ✓ We never sell your data to anyone, for any reason.
- ✓ You can delete your account and all data at any time, in-app or by email.
1. Who we are
MindPet ("MindPet", "we", "us", "our") is a digital wellbeing application for Android that helps you track and limit short-form video scrolling. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the MindPet Android app and this website.
If you have any questions, contact us at support@mindpet.app.
2. Data we collect
We collect the minimum needed to run MindPet:
- Account information (optional). If you create an account (for example, to join focus battles or leaderboards), we collect your email address, a display name, and your chosen avatar. You can use MindPet's core tracking and shield features without an account.
- Gameplay data.If you use social features, we store your pet's level, streaks, focus points, and battle results so leaderboards and battles work across devices.
- Basic analytics. We collect anonymized, aggregated usage events (e.g., "shield shown", "quota changed") and crash reports to improve stability. These contain no scroll content and no personally identifying information.
What we do not collect:
- The content of anything you watch, read, or type. Ever.
- Your contacts, photos, files, location, or browsing history.
- Screenshots or recordings of your screen.
- Keystrokes, passwords, or payment details entered in other apps.
Your per-app scroll counts and quota settings are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. If you use battles or leaderboards, only your aggregate daily swipe totals (a number) are shared, never which apps you used or what you viewed.
3. Accessibility Service API usage
🛡️ Important: please read
MindPet utilizes the Android Accessibility Service API exclusively to detect scroll events on short-form video platforms to enforce user-defined scrolling limits. We do not use this service to read your screen, collect personal information, monitor your keystrokes, or transmit any sensitive data off your device. The service operates strictly locally to calculate your scroll count and display the blocking shield when your quota is reached.
The Accessibility Service permission is powerful, and we treat it accordingly. In practice, MindPet's service listens only for scroll-type accessibility events in the apps you have chosen to track (such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok), increments an on-device counter and, when your quota is reached, displays the MindPet Shield overlay. Enabling the service is always your explicit choice in Android's system settings, and you can disable it there at any time.
4. How we use your data
- To provide scroll tracking, quotas, and the blocking shield (on-device).
- To run optional social features: battles, leaderboards, and streaks.
- To fix crashes and improve the app using anonymized analytics.
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.
6. Data retention
On-device data (scroll counts, quotas, shield settings) stays on your phone and is removed when you uninstall the app. Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of an account-deletion request. Anonymized analytics are retained in aggregate form only.
7. Account & data deletion
You can delete your account and associated data at any time:
- In the app: open Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, gameplay data, and email from our servers.
- By email: send a request to support@mindpet.app from the address linked to your account. We will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days.
- Deletion request form: if you no longer have the app installed, submit a request on our Delete Account page and we'll complete the deletion within 30 days.
- Local data only: uninstalling the app removes all on-device data, including scroll counts and quota settings.
8. Children's privacy
MindPet is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, and data minimization) to protect the limited data we do hold. The most sensitive data (your scroll activity) is protected by the strongest safeguard of all: it never leaves your device.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app and reflected in the "last updated" date above. Continued use of MindPet after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
